Barr Al Hickman is a true paradise for kite surfers, offering crystal-clear turquoise lagoons surrounded by pristine white coral sand. These lagoons, separated from the open sea by narrow sandbars, provide exceptionally shallow waters—even in heavy winds exceeding 40 knots—making for dreamlike conditions in knee- to waist-deep water. With only a few narrow entrances to the open sea, the lagoons offer natural protection, making them ideal not just for kite surfers but also for local fishermen seeking calm flatwater. The Bar Al Hickman is particularly well-suited for flatwater enthusiasts, featuring three main lagoons within a 30-kilometer radius, along with several protected spots that offer plenty of variety for an extended stay. Jutting into the Indian Ocean, the Barr Al Hickman Peninsula is the first to be hit by the monsoon winds, ensuring steady, turbulence-free airflow. Even during summer, the temperatures remain pleasant due to the refreshing sea breeze. The lagoons, ranging from 3 to 5 kilometers in length, offer both thrilling kite-surfing opportunities and the option to venture into the open sea beyond the sandbank whenever desired.

Hi Gulf Kitesurfing !! Nice to see you here! I heard about this place last year when I was in Indonesia. I will have to see if I can arrange a stop over in Oman at some point 😀
