Deciding where to stay in Dakhla comes down to two options. Either stay in the town and rent a car or stay at one of the kite clubs. There is not really anywhere to launch a kite around town and the lagoon is 30Km to the north. Currently the going rate for renting a small car is 300Dhm (£24 / €28) per day which makes things a lot easier than trying to arrange transfers...

Update: To get to Secret Spot or White Dune you definitely need a 4x4 and ideally someone who knows where they are going. They are both a fair way off the main road. You could just use google maps and cut across the desert heading in the general direction. There are lots of tracks which split up and converge and you would probably get there, but having a local guide makes life a lot easier. At high tide you could get to Speed Spot by heading down the lagoon past Dakhla Attitude and then going around the sand bar and upwind, but it is a fair way, or you could probably park up on the main road and walk down, but again having a 4x4 would make things much easier.
