Forum >> Dakhla >> Where to eat in Dakhla

Whilst my advice would be to stay up in the main kite lagoon area, if you do decide to stay in Dakhla town then here are a couple of suggestions. First of all the town is very quiet in the day. After sunset it's a whole different place with most people eating after sunset and most places open until at least midnight, the peak time being in the middle. If you have a car and like seafood I highly recommend heading out to Westpoint which does great food at very reasonable prices overlooking the sea with good sunsets. Both the seafood paella and spaghetti dishes were delicious. It's at the end of the beach near Westpoint Dakhla Hotel on the coast just north West of the airport runway. Further afield Talhamar Huitres is a seafood restaurant hidden beneath the clifftop on the lagoon side similar to Plaisance which is also worth a visit. At all three of these restaurants the oysters (huitres) are great and cost 3-5 dirham each!!! In town Samarkand is pretty good. Villa Dakhla has good reviews although I was not overly impressed and it was the most expensive meal I bought in 2 months. On my last night though I found Viande et Grillade Mod on Ave Al Mokaouama. Similar to some other places dotted around the town it is a butchers where you can buy your meat then have it cooked on the grill outside. I bought a small spatchcock chicken, 2 spicy sausages and 2 chicken marinaded skewers for 80 dirhams and then paid 10 dirhams in the restaurant including a drink, some olives and bread!!!
